Rehabilitation Therapies
The Howard Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Program helps patients of all ages recover after an illness or injury to return to their daily life and the activities they love. Our multidisciplinary team covers a full range of physical, speech and occupational therapies designed to meet the needs of individual patients on an inpatient or outpatient basis.

The HMH Rehabilitation Program
Fitness and Aquatic Center
In addition to our rehab services, memberships are available for our Fitness and Aquatic Center. The 4,300 sq. ft. facility includes treadmills, leg/arm bikes, elliptical machines, weight stations, Swiss ball station and Thera bands. It also features a Swim-Ex—a heated, resistance pool that is perfect for those who have difficulty exercising. The Swim-Ex offers a lift chair for easy entry and exit, various built-in workstations, resistive current, motorized underwater treadmill and two shower/changing areas. Be sure to ask about our new Dry Needling services!
Fitness and Aquatic Center Rates:
Gym: $25/month for 5 days a week
Pool: $30/month for 2 days a week; $40/month for 3 days a week

Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy involves evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of medical conditions that have resulted in impairment to an your ability to move or function. Physical therapy may use exercise, manual therapy, therapy techniques, and various modalities to help relieve pain, and improve strength and function. We offer these services in both in an outpatient or inpatient setting. We can help with the following:

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy involves the evaluation and treatment of medical conditions that have limited your ability to participate in the activities of daily living. It may involve the use of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy technique, cognitive training, adaption/modification to task, or use of modalities to improve one's function. Howard Memorial Hospital offers occupational therapy services in both an outpatient or inpatient setting. Conditions we treat include the following:
- Orthopedic: fractures, arthritis, tendonitis, muscle sprains
- Neurological rehab
- Hand therapy
- Stroke care
- Return to work
- Adaptive equipment analysis
- Activities of daily living
- Lymphedema
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy evaluates and treats patients of all ages, pediatric to geriatric. Our therapists are trained to provide prevention, screening, consultation, assessment and treatment for the disorders of the following:
- Dysphagia
- Cognitive communication
- Social communication
- Speech sound development
- Stuttering
- Voice disorders
Pediatric Therapy Center
Kids up to 18 years old can receive physical, occupational and speech therapies at an engaging, state-of-the-art facility that is as fun as it is functional. Our facility on 4th Street is centrally located to make care accessible and staffed by therapists who specialize in helping younger patients.
